NEW RELEASES

CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS

TITTY TWISTERS ORCHESTRA - GORF POW BAND TUMP (CD-LP/SOUNDFLAT)  Due for release this week, the new album by sharp dressed Italo-Playboys The Titty Twisters Orchestra. Garage punk meets beat, rock'n'roll meets punk rock, titty shakers meets surf and soul-a-gogo! Twelve (or thirteen, since the LP-edition contains a bonus track) party anthems, which give each auditor the feeling of participating in a wild party and dance orgy.

OSVALDO COLUCCINO - NEUMA Q (CD/DIE SCHACHTEL)  The newest addition to the Die Schachtel 'Composers' series, a deep immersion into the purest electronic sound, exploring a broad spectrum of electro-acoustic phenomena, low-end drone, magically constructed and sequenced in a way that preserves an intimate feel.

ANGELO PETRONELLA - RIMANDI E SCOPERTE (CD/DIE SCHACHTEL)  Long awaited new album by the enigmatic composer Angelo Petronella, in a superb piece of electro-acoustic microsound, intertwining scrupulous minimalism, environmental recordings, and an intense drone nebula.

EXPECTED RELEASES

CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS

DEAD BROTHERS - THE 5TH SIN-PHONIE (LP-CD/VOODOO RHYTHM)  Brand new offering from the highly regarded Swiss combo, who made a name for themselves everywhere with their mix of gipsy music, blues, r'n'r and delinquent jazz. 'The 5th Sin-Phonie' marks another irresistible highlight in their career.

STAGGERS - ZOMBIE OF LOVE (LP/SOUNDFLAT)  More mega enjoyable and sturdy steamin' hit tunes by the Staggers! Includes poster (A2 size) and mobile.

DAHLIA'S TEAR - DREAMSPHERE (CD/COLD MEAT INDUSTRY)  'Dreamsphere' conjures visions from the depths of elusive, eerie dreams. It enables your mind to step out of reality, into haunted spheres. This introspective work, is an enigmatic, dark ambient and industrial recording, with compositions reflecting a light starved, timeless journey.

IRM - ORDER4 (CD/COLD MEAT INDUSTRY)  These guys, who've been around for over ten years, are being regarded as one of the most interesting bands in the world of industrial music. Their latest work, recorded as a trio including a bass player, delves deep into the psyche of the self inflictor. Four tracks, each exactly 15 minutes long.

SALA DELLE COLONNE - XX A.D. (CD/COLD MEAT INDUSTRIAL)  A magnificent piece of martial neoclassical music. More information to follow!

ELDAR - AMESHA SPENTAS (CD/COLD MEAT INDUSTRY)  This new album once again showcases their significant mixture of dark-ambient and bombastic martial music. These tracks are based on the work of Goya, from the conceptual point of view.

60’s & 70’s & 80’s (RE-)RELEASES AND ARTISTS + OTHER OLDIES

LEMON DROPS - SUNSHOWER FLOWER POWER (LP/CICADELIC)  Soon also available on LP, a selection of the tracks from the compilation CD which was released last year. Only 600 vinyl copies were pressed of this superb collection of tunes (recorded in 1967) by Chicago's prime garage-psych-pop-folk youngsters. Includes the Nuggets-raver 'I Live In The Springtime', six songs in versions previously unavailable on vinyl and two unreleased tracks available for the first time, "Flowers On The Hillside' and 'Dream'. A wet dream!

BLUE THINGS - STORY, VOL. 1 (LP/CICADELIC)  The Blue Things' 'Story Volume One' is back. Originally issued in 1987, it has been out of print since 1989, 'till the announcement of this wonderful limited edition blue vinyl pressing of 600 copies. Features many tracks that weren't on their original RCA album (reissued on vinyl last year). For those unfamiliar with this group, The Blue Things -from Kansas- were amongst the finest of US 60s garage- and folkrock bands and their music should appeal to any fan of f.i. The Beau Brummels, the early days of The Byrds or The Night Crawlers.

PIETRO GROSSI - COMBINATORIA (2CD BOX/DIE SCHACHTEL)  A comprehensive guide to the core recordings of one of the most visionary and inspiring, subversive and radical musicians from Italy, this 2-CD BOX Deluxe Edition captures Pietro Grossi original vision, presenting a wide selection of his studio early recordings.

YAMA & THE KARMA DUSTERS - UP FROM THE SEWERS (CD/LION PRODUCTION)  Also known as Euphoria Blimp Works and featuring the creative brain of Chicago's 60's garage outfit The Knaves, this band (c.a. 1970) was heavily into anarchy, anti establishment and shaking things up in every possible way. Radical songs, twisted lyrics and the band's DIY attitude make this a very special record that was way ahead of its time. You just know the FBI had a huge file on these early punks. But did they have the album? If not, here's their opportunity.

GREGORY BRIGHT - ROOM BY GREG (CD/AUDIO ARCHIVES)  It is difficult not to overstate the historical importance and charm of this quintessentially English psychedelic folk private pressing, recorded in 1969, a year renowned for producing a plethora of ground-breaking material. All eleven songs are self-composed and performed by Greg using melancholic guitar to accompany a darkly eccentric vocal delivery to strange effect. The subject matter of the quirky songs is predominantly concerned with self-examination and curious introspection towards a world full of confusing ironies and sequential, enigmatic happenings. Those who cherish Nick Drake, COB, Leonard Cohen, Colin Blunstone etc, will simply adore this timeless, brooding masterpiece.

DAVE CORBETT & FRIENDS - STONED, BROKE & FED-UP (CD/AUDIO ARCHIVES)  CD-reissue of this ultra rare album, recorded in 1973. It was originally released on the Deroy label in minute quantity and issued in a bizarre, oversized custom-made sleeve. The songs are eleven home-grown compositions featuring strong lead and backing vocals atop acoustic and electric guitars alongside piano and harp. Some songs have a prominent eastern, tripped-out psych feel throughout, whilst others straddle jug-band and folk areas, or stray into 60s Alan Price territory. Recommended to heads into the likes of Synanthesia, Panama Jug Band, Astral Navigations etc.

BAD ACID - TAB 9 (MAGAZINE + DVD/BAD ACID)  The 90 minute DVD presents footage from a.o. Blood Fountains,  Samsara Blues Experiment, La Ira De Dios, Seven That Spells. The audio compilation features no less than 64 bands, including Circle, Skitliv, Ufomammut, Weird Owl, Don Juan Matus, Dragontears, Coitus, Electric Orange, Öresund Space Collective... The printed magazine offers reviews of all bands featured, plus interviews with 'Loud Howls' festival organiser Jack Dickinson, Ancestors, Kylie Minoise, White Hills and Santos.

BAD ACID - TAB 10 (MAGAZINE + DVD/BAD ACID)  The DVD features live and promo videos by a.o. Atomic Workers. The audio compilation offers tracks by f.i.  Blandbladen, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Otis Optic And The Option People, La Ira De Dios, Secret Saucer a.m.o.  In the magazine you'll find lots of reviews and interviews with The Meads Of Asphodel, Nadja and Tenhornedbeast.

SELECTED PRESS QUOTES

CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS

DELANEY DAVIDSON - SELF DECAPITATION (CD-LP/VOODOO RHYTHM)  reviewed by Joost Jan Meertens for Planet Trash (translated excerpt)  ...an arousing record on which murder, treason, greed and basically everything that makes mankind evil, are the central themes.

SIENA ROOT - DIFFERENT REALITIES (LP/HEADSPIN-CD/TRANSUBSTANS)  reviewed by Pé for Dreun (translated excerpt)  ...a rich and epical album, with music that has a fresh and natural feeling to it.

FLYING EYES - FLYING EYES (CD-LP/WORLD IN SOUND)  reviewed by Ian Fraser for Terrascopeonline (excerpt)  ...the twelve tracks demonstrate consistently good quality throughout and so 'Flying Eyes' carries a seal of recommendation from your reviewer.

LA IRA DE DIOS - APUS REVOLUTION ROCK (CD/WORLD IN SOUND)  reviewed by Ewie for FileUnder (tranlated excerpt)  Apart from the anarchy, punk and psychedelia, there also is some massive, old fashioned hardrock, like Black Sabbath once played.

PIRATE LOVE - BLACK VODOUN SPACE BLUES (CD-LP/VOODOO RHYTHM)  reviewed by Jurgen Dignef for Goddeau (translated excerpt)  With slight nods towards at one side colourful transvestites s.a. Queen or New York Dolls, and the other side Black Lips and Brian Jonestown Massacre, one can expect anything from Pirate Love.

ELECTRIC ORANGE - KRAUTROCK FROM HELL (CD/SULATRON)  reviewed by Cosmicmasseur for ConcreteWeb (excerpt)  If you haven't yet heard anything from this band, then it's high time you allow yourself the pleasure.

VIBRAVOID - TRIPTAMINE (CD+DVD/NASONI)  reviewed by Gerald van Waes for Psyche van het Folk (translated excerpt)  ...the trippy music quickly takes you away.

60’s & 70’s & 80’s (RE-)RELEASES AND ARTISTS + OTHER OLDIES

ANNEKE KONINGS - FEELINGS AND FAIRYTALES (CD/EXCALIBUR MUSIC GROUP)  reviewed by Chris van Oostrom for Revolver (translated excerpt)  Also her rendition of Jimmy Webb's 'Magic Garden' does justice to the composer. And more importantly, compared to this track, Anneke's own songs make just as good an impression.  reviewed by DubbelMono for FileUnder (translated excerpt)  ...a forgotten talent who may profit from the current 'zeitgeist'.  reviewed by René van Kaam for Platenblad (translated excerpt)  ...it's only a form of justice that this CD now is released, offering a broad selection of tracks from her two LP's...

MORNING DEW - NO MORE 1966-1969 (CD/CICADELIC)  reviewed by Paul Martin for Shindig (excerpt)  This is a document that makes sense of their eponymous album.  reviewed by Jon 'Mojo' Mills for Record Collector (excerpt)  ...the 19 track compilation of the band's progression from garage band upstarts to cosmic explorers.

GOLIATH - GOLIATH (CD/GEARFAB)  reviewed by Jon 'Mojo' Mills for Record Collector (translated excerpt)  ...strong, varied material... The gentle hippyish 'Sunny Day, 'Innocence Of My Mind' and 'Word' are beautiful. reviewed by Paul Martin for Shindig (excerpt)  Essentially, this is good southern rock with competent guitar and organ interplay.

GRONG GRONG - TO HELL AND BACK (CD+DVD/ MEMORANDUM)  reviewed by DubbelMono (translated excerpt)  ...musical madness, coming from the same junkyard as where The Cramps, Birthday Party and Stooges got their inspiration.
