record pinup:

PSYCHEDELIC/PROG/FOLK

PROSPER - BROKEN DOOR (LP/LONGHAIR)

Reissued on vinyl, this is a highly regarded German prog album from 1975, enriched with psychedelic and jazzy elements.

BEGINNER'S MYND - DON'T LOSE YOUR MIND (LP/13 O'CLOCK)

On vinyl, this is the debut full-length from The Beginner's Mynd. From the fuzzed-out garage-fueled opener 'Don't Lose Your Mind' to the dreamy, psych-poppin' closing track 'No Expectations', the Washington D.C.-based trio presents ten songs that expand upon their bedrock sound of Byrdsian guitar jangle meshed with '60s-style pop-psych and '80s Paisley underground moves.

ELECTRIC MOON - STARDUST RITUALS (YELLOW/BLACK) (LP/SULATRON)

The fifth studio-album by the German space cadets is as trippy as it gets. The music was recorded, mixed and produced by Sula Bassana (Dave Schmidt) and mastered by Eroc. The beautiful cover-painting was made by Eriko of Mont Doom Design in Italy and Lulu Artwork. This second edition comes on yellow-black marbled vinyl in a standard cover (with different colours) and is limited to 500 copies.

KILL WEST - CUSH (LP/STOLEN BODY)

Hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Kill West delivers a sound that transcends its space and time coordinates, creating a style not transfixed to any area or location. 'Cush' combines hazy psychedelia, good vibe trips and drones, spontaneous blues riffing and long-scale bass landscapes. Indeed, 'Cush' will instantly drive you into a trance. TRACKS: 1. Faces 2. This Daze 3. No Stranger 4. Garden Of Eden 5. Gush 6. Skull & Bones Blues 7. Heavy 8. D.U.E.L. 9. Jungle Mind

RISIN SABOTAGE - PLANET DIES (LP/NASONI)

Released on coloured vinyl, in a strictly limited edition of 300 copies, this is the second trip from the Ukrainian stoner outfit. Expect contemplations on beginnings and endings, life and death, and the cycles of existence, packed in psychedelic desert rock excursions.

SONIC SHAMEN - (BLACK) TRIBUTE TO LEMMY (2LP+CD) (LP/SPACE ROCK)

Sonic Shamen features Dr. Space (Oresund Space Collective) with members from a.o. Litmus, Earthling Society and Red Elektra, who got together to record at the Foel Studios in Wales. The included bonus-CD offers a 74-minute jam which includes Hawkwind's Dave Anderson, who also happens own the studio. The opening track is a bit of take on '7 By 7' by Hawkwind. Side B sounds like it could have been recorded by Sam Gopal. This is followed by a freaky nasty R&R jam that would make Lemmy smile (hope). Side C contains an eastern-tinged psych track while Side D shows the most heavy moments of these jam sessions. All the tracks were recorded live with no overdubs. DOUBLE-LP on BLACK VINYL!

SUMO SUN - STAMINA (BLACK/+7") (LP/SPACE ROCK)

Limited edition of 170 copies on BLACK VINYL, including a one-sided bonus 7-inch. Sumo Sun was a studio only project featuring members of a.o. Gas Giant and Magnus. 'Stamina' offers a powerful mixture of heavy rock, progressive elements and formidable vocals. This is Sumo Sun's 2008 debut-album.

VINNUM SABBATHI - FUZZONAUT (LP/STOLEN BODY)

Vinnum Sabbathi's 'Fuzzonaut' gets issued on vinyl for the first time. Originally released as a split with Bar De Monjas in 2015, this version features the band's well known blistering fuzz laden space explorations and adds a bonus track ('The Curse Of Silence') not found on the original record. TRACKS: 1. HEX I: The Mastery Of Space 2. Intermission (Fluctuations) 3. HEX II: Foundation Pioneers 4. The Curse Of Silence

SULA BASSANA - THE APE REGARDS HIS TAIL O.S.T. (CD/SULATRON)

Sula Bassana's first soundtrack album features 60 minutes of totally spaced out and minimalistic music for the sci-fi feature-film 'The Ape Regards His Tail', directed by Michael Yates. The music was made with synthesizers, string ensembles, mellotron, organ, e-guitar and e-piano. It shows the mellow and relaxed, but also deep, dark and melancholic side of Sula Bassana. Wide and floating soundscapes combined with deep melodies and spaced out sounds. Close your eyes and watch a movie inside your head, constructed by those tunes and your mind.

METAL/HARDROCK

BLACK BONE EXORCISM - (BLUE) CRACK THE BONE, BREAK THE HEART (LP/DHU RECORDS)

Limited edition of 150 copies on ELECTRIC BLUE and SEA BLUE VINYL. Seattle-based Black Bone Exorcism successfully creates a visceral experience via intense, heavy and dark music. With rage filled distorted guitar onslaughts, tribal rhythms that hypnotize, and melancholic and somber interludes, Black Bone Exorcism's aims at creating chaos to break violently through the mediocrity of today's mainstream heavy music scene.

GARAGE/BEAT/SURF/PUNK/HARDCORE

BARON FOUR - SILVATICUS (BLACK) (LP/GET HIP)

With one LP and four single releases already under their belts, UK's premier garage/beat exponents The Baron Four push forward with their strongest release to date, both in terms of songs and recorded sound. All the recognizable key elements are here: fevered vocals topping off clanging guitars stewed in reverb, rumbling bass and tumultuous drums. Tracked (as usual) at State Records custom-built 8-track recording facility in glorious mono, these 12 tracks demonstrate the band's ability to combine gritty R&B-based material with garage-punk raunch, capturing at least some of their raw, live, chaotic energy onto tape. RIYL Pretty Things, Count Five, Back From The Grave comps. Limited to 200 copies on black vinyl.

STALAG - DATE LIMITE DE VENTE (7"/CAMELEON)

Limited to 300 copies on BLACK VINYL, this is a reissue of a very rare French punk single, originally from 1981. Stalag hailed from Bordeaux.

SATAN'S PILGRIMS - CREATURE FEATURE (LP/JACKPOT)

Limited edition of 500 copies on GREEN VINYL. Originally released in 1998, Satan's Pilgrims 'Creature Feature' expertly distills the essence of '60s west-coast surf instrumentals. Eastern scales dive-bomb with full bodied tremolo and glide across seas of reverb. Infused with classic Monster Sounds, Satan's Pilgrims brings the boneyard to the beach.

EXPERIMENTAL/INDUSTRIAL

LISTENING CENTER - EXAMPLE ONE (LP/POLYTECHNIC YOU)

Now for the first time on vinyl due to popular demand, it's the 2012 debut full-length (initially a cassette-only release) from NYC's Listening Center. On offer are explored aspects of library music, kosmische musik and lost soundtracks. Dusty analogue synths and drum machines, along with fragments of speech and field recordings, provide a soundtrack as we clear a path through the undergrowth of memory. Limited edition with very nice artwork.

PAYNE, MAGGI - CRYSTAL (LP/AGUIRRE)

Maggi Payne's challenging electronic album 'Crystal' was first released in 1986 by Lovely Music, home to experimental musicians such as Robert Ashley, David Behrman, Pauline Oliveros and Alvin Lucier. On this work flute, spoken voice, sonifications and synthesizers are processed to create dense and massive structures. Silent sections gently evolve into flowing drones of complex resonances. Oozing drones evolve into dense and powerful peaks of short duration. The compositions and sounds on 'Crystal' have incredible depth, a profound logic and, though not "pretty", an irresistible beauty.

RILEY, TERRY - PERSIAN SURGERY DERVISHES (2LP) (LP/LES SÉRIES SHAN)

'Persian Surgery Dervishes', initially issued on the French label Shandar, features two concerts for electric organ and reel-to-reel delay. The first was recorded in Los Angeles on 18th April, 1971, the other in Paris on 24th May, 1972. This reissue is limited to 1.000 copies.

KONAGAYA, JUN - MEMENTO MORI (LP/STEINKLANG)

Limited to 200 copies on BLACK VINYL. The 2017 solo-album from GRIM mastermind Jun Konagaya.

MARGARET FREEMAN - AFRIKANER'S STREET (LP/CAMELEON)

Limited to 300 copies on BLACK VINYL. A vinyl reissue of an industrial/electronic tape release from 1989 by members of Urbain Autopsy. The album includes a cover of 'Nag Nag Nag' by Cabaret Voltaire.

KHOST - GOVERNANCE (CD/COLD SPRING)

'Governance' continues KHOST's immersion in themes of detachment and dissonance, and ruminates upon the exertion of wills that are not your own. With demoralizing vocal terror, hypnotic nightmarescapes, frost-encrusted tones and horrifying rhythms, KHOST devastates the listener with nearly 50 minutes of entrancing yet hazardous tectonic doom-laced revulsion. This CD comes in a 6-panel digipack.

ELECTRONIC

MARS, VIC - THE CONSUMER PROGRAMME (LP/POLYTECHNIC YOU)

'Consumer Programme' is a magnificent full-length, building handsomely on its esteemed predecessor's huge acclaim. In other words: we may expect more utterly wonderful, occasionally playful analogue synth soundtracks, soundbites and tips of the hat, especially to the revered BBC Radiophonic Workshop output from 1968 onwards, but also to Conrad Schnitzler, Klaus Schulze and Edgar Froese. Limited edition with very nice artwork.

COSMIC GROUND - LIVE (CD/SUNHAIR)

Cosmic Ground is a project with which Electric Orange's Jan Dirk Muller follows the tracks and traces of original electronic Krautrock pioneers s.a. Klaus Schulze or Tangerine Dream. On stage he's joined by Horst Porkert from Sunhair Records, with this release being the first impressive result.

PERREY, JEAN-JACQUES - MUSIQUE ELECTRONIQUE DU COSMOS (...PLUS) (LP/WAH WAH)

Awesome early '60s recordings from the highly rated French electronic music pioneer. This work was originally issued in a tiny edition of 500 copies. Some of the songs from the album were later used for television commercials, most notably the song 'Chicken On The Rocks', which appeared in a commercial for the Ideal Toy Company in the '60s. The tracks on Side 2 of this reissue are from a very rare demonstration disc of which only one copy is known to exist. The LP is pressed in an edition of 500 copies, comes in an old style sleeve with backflaps and original artwork. The colour insert features photos and liner notes.
