PSYCHEDELIC/PROGRESSIVE/FOLK

SILBERSHER, JOEL -& CHARLIE OWEN- - TENDRILS (LP/SORCERER)

The first ever vinyl edition of this long-out-of-print classic from 1995, originally released on CD by the Dog Meat label. 'Tendrils' sees Joel (Hoss, GOD, Melonman, Dark Horses, etc.) and Charlie (New Christs, Beasts Of Bourbon, Tex, Don & Charlie) engaging in a series of intimate, loose and downbeat folky duets. With sonic similarities to the likes of Richard Thompson (there's a mind-melting cover of his 'Night Comes In' track here, too) and John Martyn, as well as more contemporary troubadours such as Ben Chasny (Six Organs Of Admittance) and Steve Gunn, 'Tendrils' often feels like it's on the verge of musical collapse, but pulls itself together with delicate and intricate guitar work, gentle vocals and occasional percussion lending it a steady pulse. This edition comes newly remastered by Mikey Young with fresh artwork design from Luke Fraser and is limited to 500 copies worldwide.

IL SIGILLO DI HORUS - EFFIMERA (LP/BLACK WIDOW)

In the early '70s Diego Bertone and Beppe Aleo met Angelo Godone and soon started to play covers of Emerson Lake & Palmer, Jethro Tull, The Trip, Procol Harum and Deep Purple. In 1973 guitar player Maurizio Barbarisi joined the band and together created the Il Sigillo Di Horus project with their own compositions. This album is an important testimony of the historical period of Italian progressive. For fans of the best Italian prog bands like Circus 2000, Le Orme or Analogy.

LONG ORME - LONG ORME (LP/WAH WAH)

Finally reissued on vinyl for the first time, this is a true acid-folk gem from the deepest vaults of the French underground. Originally released in 1975 by Sonart Disques, the mega rare self-titled album by obscure duo Long Orme is a delightful work of poetry and acoustic guitar that will appeal to fans of like minded artists s.a. Season, Jeff, Beautiful Losers, Yves, Serge & Victor, Manu Lannhuel, Denis, or Jean Yves Tourbin. Including liner notes and an interview, this edition is limited to 500 copies.

THUNDERMOTHER (UK) - NO RED ROWAN (2LP) (LP/KRAUTED MIND)

A quite mysterious release from mostly studio musicians, of which not much history is known. 'No Red Rowan', an album of heavy blues, psych, acid rock was released in 1971. Out of the UK, the album is definitely a required rarity for any fan of early '70s hard/psych stuff. Recorded in 1970-71 in Wakefield, England.

CREAM - NINETEEN SIXTY-SEVEN (CD/VOGON)

3RD TRIP - SCALE OF CONFUSION (BLACK) (LP/SOUND EFFECT)

3rd Trip from Finland lays down a sonic barrage of Herculean riffs exploding with psychedelic force and cosmic atmosphere both lyrically and vocally. For fans of Black Space Riders, Craneium, and that ilk. Limited to 200 copies on black vinyl.

ATOMIC MOLD - (BLACK) HYBRID SLOW FLOOD (LP/ELECTRIC VALLEY)

Sophomore full length by Italian stoner/doom/psych trio Atomic Mold. The sound they propose on 'Hybrid Slow Flood' is mostly instrumental, choleric, psychedelic, with some vocal invasion, which fits hysterically between granite notes. Edition on black vinyl.

DESERT WIZARDS - BEYOND THE GATES OF THE COSMIC KINGDOM (LP/SELF RELEASE)

The 2017 album by Italian hard psych/prog band now also on vinyl.

ME AND MY KITES - NATT O DAG (BLACK) (LP/SOUND EFFECT)

'Natt O Dag' is possibly the Swedish collective's best album so far. Darker, moodier and filled with some irresistible pop-hooks, 'Nat O Dag' is destined to become a modern psychedelic classic. Limited to 200 copies on black vinyl.

BLUE DAWN - EDGE OF CHAOS (CD/SELF RELEASE)

Third album by the acclaimed progressive doom band Blue Dawn from Italy. 'Edge Of Chaos' is definitely Blue Dawn's best and more mature album, showcasing a varied choice of material, ranging from doom metal to dark and progressive rock and sounding, at times, like a cross between King Crimson and Celtic Frost. Special guests on the album are Freddy Delirio (Death SS) who wrote and played keyboards on the first track 'The Presence' and ex-Malombra guitar player Matteo Ricci, who plays a marvellous guitar solo on the record's most experimental track 'Baal's Demise'.

HALL, NATHAN -& THE SINISTER LOCALS- - MUTE EFFIGIES SOUNDTRACKS (CD/HIP REPLACEMENT)

This is a spin off album from Nathan Hall's 'Effigies'. "For years people have told me that the multi layered music we write has a soundtrack feel to it. It crossed my mind through the years to do instrumental remixes of all the Soft Hearted Scientists albums, simultaneously with the parent albums, but I then always got sidetracked diving into the next album. Working on an album usually exhausts me, and the thought of immediately revisiting it always makes me feel slightly nauseous. This time I thought I really should do it. So with sick bag in hand just in case, I worked on instrumental versions with producer Frank Naughton. It turned out to be unexpectedly enjoyable and almost effortless. Originally, this remix was made just for the listening pleasure of the band members and our friends and family, and, against massive odds, to seek placement of the instrumentals with publishers who could try to find us some soundtrack work. However, after a few playbacks, the instrumental version took on a life of its own. Unexpectedly it worked in its own right as a complete album, as a kind of (worn out cliché alert) soundtrack to an imaginary film." ~Nathan Hall.

GARAGE/BEAT/SURF/ROCK’N’ROLL

CORDS - COMPLETE SINGLES DISCOGRAPHY (2X7") (7"/OKTAY)

2x7" reissue from the original Cuca master tapes of the complete singles discography by this Wisconsin avantgarde/garage band. The Cords were a group of Franciscan monks based in Pulaski, Wisconsin, northwest of Green Bay. Most of the group came from Wisconsin, but a couple members were from Buffalo and one from North Chicago. They issued one mainly polka/pop album in 1969, and two singles, which are much more interesting due to the added sound effects, percussion and distortion. The track 'Ghost Power' was chosen for the first volume of 'Back From The Grave' for this wild instrumental sound.

REVEREND BEAT-MAN & THE NEW WAVE - BLUES TRASH (+CD) (LP/VOODOO RHYTHM)

Former wrestling rock'n'roll one man band activist Lightning Beat-Man (1992-1999) turned into a primitive rock'n'roll blues preacher during the millennium change and released countless recordings on several labels. In 2017 he had a hand full of songs to record this album, and the idea was to record it with several musicians and not showing them the songs. They went to the studio and Reverend Beat-Man played the songs on the guitar one time, then the musicians had two takes for recording without rehearsal to keep it fresh. The result is a mix of blues trash, new wave folk and dark no wave garage punk and rock'n'roll. Featuring Nicole Izobel Garcia (vocals, organ, percussion), Mario Batkovic (accordion), Julian Sartorius (drums) and Resli Burri (Dead Brothers multi-instrumentalist).

POP/ROCK/WAVE/NOISE

LUBRICATED GOAT - PLAYS THE DEVIL'S MUSIC (LP/SORCERER)

A reissue of Lubricated Goat's debut LP from 1987, which has been out of circulation for over two decades. Sorcerer presents this classic slice of Underground Australiana again in all its glory. Recorded over two recording sessions in mid-1986, one in Perth and one in Adelaide, 'Plays The Devil's Music' wasn't really seen by LG founder/mainstay Stu Spasm (ex-Beasts Of Bourbon, Salamander Jim and much more) as a part of any grand musical plan. He recorded these tracks with his friends Martin Bland, Brett Ford and Pete Hartley and went back to Sydney with the tapes. John Foy of Black Eye Records loved the results and the band known as Lubricated Goat was born. Lubricated Goat were (perhaps correctly) often compared to the Butthole Surfers at the time, and their mix of punk, post-punk, noise and a taste for the absurd puts them firmly in the same camp. Throw in a little bit of Stooges/Birthday Party-style grunt and a distinctly Australian sense of humour and you're getting close to the magic of early Lubricated Goat. This edition comes remastered c/o Mikey Young, with the original artwork and inner sleeve, download card, as well as new liner notes from Stu Spasm detailing the history of the recording. Recommended for fans of Butthole Surfers, Killdozer, Pere Ubu, Big Black, Birthday Party.

CASUAL HEX - ZIG ZAG LADY ILLUSION (LP/WATER WING)

Casual Hex is a three-piece formed in Seattle, WA in 2015. Drawing influence from a variety of genres (post-punk, no-wave, noise rock), the band relies on the contrast of heavy, catchy, minimal, and dissonant. It's difficult to draw a direct lineage, but flashes of Pylon, The Contortions, or early Sonic Youth come to mind. Clocking in at 21 minutes, 'Zig Zag Lady Illusion' is as much of a full length as you're gonna get with most songs not even hitting the 2 minute mark. This is Casual Hex's debut on Water Wing and their first effort to be pressed on vinyl. Limited to 300 copies.

COME HOLY SPIRIT - ASTERS AND DISASTERS (LP/WATER WING)

Formed in 2012 in Pittsburgh PA, Come Holy Spirit wields the age-old trifecta of guitar, bass, and drums in unexpected configurations. The songs embody a complex aggregate of musical influences, ranging from the angular deconstructivism of early experimental anarcho-punk (think Dog Faced Hermans and Poison Girls) to the tender repetition of far-flung folk music. This is their third album and first on Water Wing. Limited to 300 copies.

GRIFTERS - SO HAPPY TOGETHER (LP/SORCERER)

Memphis' The Grifters made some of the finest recordings of Clinton-era America, with a number of albums on labels such as Shangri-La (their second and third LPs) and then Sub Pop for their remaining two albums. Their mixture of Memphis blues/roots influences, classic pop songwriting and lo-fi aesthetics saw them as one of the shining lights of the '90s indie-rock scene. This a reissue of their first full-length LP, out of circulation for over two decades. Originally released in 1992 on the Chicago indie label Sonic Noise, which ceased operations not long after the album was released (hence many Grifters fans having never heard this very recording), The Grifters' 'So Happy Together' is an absolute masterpiece of lo-fi slapped-together rock & roll. Less rootsy than their subsequent music, it sees the band navigating their way through 10 sublimely inventive, non-generic rock tracks which beggar comparison. Fully remastered from the original tapes by Mikey Young, housed in the original artwork in a heavy 425gm sleeve with an insert featuring exclusive photos from the time and new liner notes from the band's Tripp Lamkins.

GERRARD, LISA -& MARCELLO DE FRANCISCI- - DEPARTUM (CD/INFINITE FOG)

After the groundbreaking album 'The Trail Of Genghis Khan' written in collaboration with an Australian artist Cye Wood, Lisa Gerrard returns to Infinite Fog with long-awaited complete, extended edition of the album 'Departum'. Highest quality sound, ambient drifts, soft tribal rhythms, with touching melodies of the cimbalom and 144-strings yang chin played by Lisa Gerrard and transcendental vocals.

INDUSTRIAL/EXPERIMENTAL/NOISE/NEOFOLK/GOTHIC

JACKIE-O MOTHERFUCKER - BLOOM (LP/TEXTILE)

Recorded at Santo Studios in Oakland California since 2015 with a mostly new cast of musicians, 'Bloom' continues the trajectory of JOMF's explorations of song and sonic experimentation. 'Bloom' is the band's 11th studio record, 7 years after their highly acclaimed 'Ballad Of The Revolution' album and is the culmination of 20 years spent defining their unique take on American music.

MUSLIMGAUZE - MAROON (LP/STAALPLAAT)

Separated from both its reputation and its sleeve art, the music of Muslimgauze explores the relationship of visual sensations -space, colour, depth, illusion- to the listening experience. The music on 'Maroon' is dub-like inspired techno music, laid back with voices appearing randomly in the mix. The thick drums and rich found sounds that densely populate the soundscapes on 'Maroon' give materiality to the warm presence of the synth washes. The music is so layered and textured that it ceases to be aural and exists almost solely in the realm of sight and touch. Cover made of 1mm thick cardboard, sewed, text gold screen-print, image, name, and side lines are laser-cut. All done by hand. Limited to 500 copies.

LASWELL, BILL -FT. COIL- - CITY OF LIGHT (CD/INFINITE FOG)

In 1997, Bill Laswell released his sixth solo album 'City Of Light', recorded in Banaras, India, and mixed in Greenpoint, NY. For this album, he invited John Balance and Peter Christopherson from Coil, they did the epic 13-minute composition 'Kála', and Japanese ambient genius Tetsu Inoue, who decorated the album with its characteristic sound. Together they created an amazing conceptual album full of deep drones, tabla-rhythms, and ambient collages. Originally released by Belgium label Sub Rosa in 1997, it was sold out many years ago. This reissue comes with new artwork with booklet.

BLACK WANDERER - HOSTILE TERRITORY (CD/KSENZA)

METAL/STONER/HARDROCK

SOOM - DJEBARS (CD/ROBUST FELLOW)

lo-fi heavy juggernaut Soom releases their sophomore full length 'Djebars'. Soom, who have previously combined heavy weirdness, hypnotic rhythms, otherworldly chanting and "recorded in a cavern" sound with an ancient mysticism grounded in Ukrainian folk, are ready to go further and project the spirit of their native city through unearthly soundscapes. Preserving the traditions of the first album, Soom creates a conceptual story, more uncanny in Dzspoken wordsdz, more chaotic and deeper in music, combining doom metal with dark side of rave and Slobozhansky folk. The result is a low-tuned, dark, vicious, filthy, shake-the-fucking-ground metal record!

VANDOD - VANDOD (CD/KSENZA)

BLUES/COUNTRY/OLDIES

VARIOUS - BURIED COUNTRY (LP/MISSISSIPPI)

A compilation of Aboriginal Australian country music. When we say country, it is a broader category than you might imagine. This LP contains all kinds of sounds. The cosmic organ driven dream song of Black Allan Barker, the droney intensely political Glararrwuy Yunupingu, the straight up rocking Warumpi Band, the ballad singing of Maisie Kelly, the down home pop of Bobby McLeod and much much more. A diverse cross section of Aboriginal "country". All of this material has never been reissued on vinyl before. These are political and powerful songs from communities throughout Australia, and a truly unique LP. Comes with extensive liner notes and photos. A co-release with Flipping Yeah Records.

SOUL/FUNK/LATIN/R&B/GOSPEL

EL CHICLES - VIVA TIRADO (CD/PREGADOR DO SOM)

Reissue of 1970 Latin rock album. El Chicles were a Belgian studioband, but the songs sound like instrumental versions of the most legendary Santana songs. Highly recommended to any fans of '70s rock as well as anyone who's into Latin sounds of previous decades!

GOMEZ, NICO -& HIS ORCHESTRA- - BOSSA NOVA (CD/PREGADOR DO SOM)

Reissue of 1972 Afro-Cuban jazz album by Nico Gomez & his Orchestra. For fans of easy listening drenched Latin jazz with a lot of rhythm!

QUARTETO EM CY/TAMBA TRIO - SOM DEFINITIVO (CD/PREGADOR DO SOM)

Reissue of 1966 MPB album by Quarteto Em Cy/Tamba Trio. Lots of acapella in the foreground with a decent portion of Brazilian rhythms and Latin moods.

VARIOUS - ESTERNO NOTTE JAZZ (+CD) (LP/FOUR FLIES)

'LATE NIGHT JAZZ AND COOL BREAKS FROM RCA ITALY FILM MUSIC VAULTS (1962-1969)' - A volume entirely dedicated to the jazz atmospheres of the Italian movies from the '60s, including genres such as noir, melò, giallo, dark comedy and crazy 'musicarelli'. With a great variety of styles and moods, jazz represented the perfect soundtrack for the Italian "nouvelle vague" season: an element of great innovation that radically disrupted the way traditional scores were conceived. No longer entrusted to cumbersome orchestras but light combos, with a fresh and dynamic sound. This record is the result of a research that focused on the soundtrack archive of RCA Italy and consists of songs that have remained unpublished until today.
