DWARFS OF EAST AGOUZA - RATS DON'T EAT SYNTHESIZERS (LP/AKUPHONE)

The long-awaited second album by The Dwarfs Of East Agouza. Hailing from the Agouza district of Cairo, Egypt, this brilliant trio consists of Alan Bishop (acoustic bass and alto sax), Maurice Louca (keyboards and drum machine) and Sam Shalabi (electric guitar). Following their acclaimed first album 'Bes', this long play is composed of two hypnotic journeys: 'Rat's Dont Eat Synthesizers' and 'Ringa Mask Koshary' which was recorded in Cairo in September of 2015. Mesmerizing electric guitar parts, frenetic beats, both supported by the deep sound of Alan's acoustic bass create a magical Egyptian soundscape. The vinyl version is coming with a beautiful hot-foil stamped sleeve that magnifies the red metallic rats and a wonderful printed inner sleeve. Includes download code.

FATHER SKY MOTHER EARTH - FATHER SKY MOTHER EARTH (LP/DIRTY FILTHY)

The debut album by German drone doom duo re-recorded and released for the first time on white vinyl via Dirty Filthy Records. Limited to 250 copies. Download-code included. For fans of long, meditative drones with hard hitting, groovy drums under a cosmic, post-rock like firmament. "A soul-rending sonic exploration full of arcane mysticism, cavernous drone and heavy-as-fuck riffage. Intensely moody, cinematic and most definitely magnificent." ~Dayz of Purple and Orange.

VARIOUS - THE SUN THE MOON THE MOUNTAIN (LP/ARCHAEOPIA)

'A PASSAGE THROUGH GREEK PSYCHEDELIA' - The Sun. The Moon. The Mountain. Three fundamental elements of the Greek psyche. From the Homeric hymns of the fiery-stallion-riding sun-god Helios and his ethereal sister Selene, goddess of the moon, to the myriad myths and legends surrounding the highlands and the consecration of Mount Olympus as the dwelling of the gods, these inextricable components of the Greek landscape, brimming with rich symbolism and religious gravitas, have dominated indigenous lore, mythology, literature, poetry and music for millennia. In modern-day Greece, one of the music genres that largely incorporated with such symbols and concepts of old -either lyrically or musically- is undoubtedly psychedelic rock. The pioneering work of Socrates Drank The Conium and Aphrodite's Child in the seventies, established the connection between Greek psychedelic music and religious/folkloric themes. Vangelis' epically toned solo career focused on mythical ideas, while psych bards Purple Overdose delved deeper into the magical mysticism of antiquity. Today were amidst a full-on psychedelic rock revival. New bands emerge consecutively, recalling old motifs on one hand, contributing essentially to the genre with new ideas on the other, whereas occult and spiritual notions are commonplace. TRACKS: 1. Tau & Villagers Of Ioannina City - Wakey Wakey 2. The Road Miles - 600 Miles 3. Cyanna Mercury - The Flood 4. Sleepin Pillow - Amplifier In My Heart 5. Green Yeti - Monkey Riders 6. Craang - When In Ruins

SHALASH - SHALASH (CD/SHALASH BAND)

Debut album by the Moscow-based band Shalash. Their music is instrumental, well-composed and arranged, keyboard-driven sympho-progressive-rock somewhat close to The Nice, E.L.P. or Atomic Rooster.

GARAGE/BEAT/SURF/ROCK’N’ROLL

YE NUNS - I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS AGAIN/DON'T WORRY (7"/STATE)

The Monks left tantalisingly few songs for the world to enjoy. But hold on to your wimples, there are two more about to be released into the wild. All-woman Monks tribute band Ye Nuns have got their devoted hands on two tonsure-tickling tracks penned by original Monk Eddie Shaw. Hear those tribal drums thud! Wonder at the off-kilter tunes! These are two songs that wouldn't be out of place on the cult classic LP 'Black Monk Time'. Given to the band by Eddie, the songs were recorded at Gizzard Studios in London. Ye Nuns are more than a tribute band though. Formed by seven London ladies in 2006, Ye Nuns send witchy, six-part harmonies crashing over scratchy guitars, layer on evil fuzz bass and add pounding drums. Lead vocals screech and soar. Electric banjo hacks relentlessly. Vintage keyboard sounds stab. Yet it's still music that puts grins on faces and gets feet moving.

DE ANNUNTIIS, MARCO - JUKEBOX ALL'IDROSCALO (LP/CINEDELIC)

'Jukebox All'Idroscalo' is the first solo album of a versatile artist (singer, poet, screenwriter, documentary maker, composer of soundtracks) that elaborates a '60s beat sound with a four instruments band: the inseparable Farfisa organ, guitar, bass and drums. A modern Serge Gainsbourg from Rome.

LAST DRIVE - THE LAST DRIVE (BLACK) (LP/LABYRINTH OF TH)

The Last Drive re-invent themselves in a walkabout through the realms of rock'n'roll and psychedelia, free from any barrier or obstacle. In an era full of uncertainty, the band is trying to provide a 45 minutes shelter with eight compositions. Including highlights already known from their recent live concerts, such as 'Always The Sun' and 'White Knuckles', of which the first version appeared on the 'Fascism Inc.' documentary. Limited to 350 copies on black vinyl.

SOUND EXPLOSION - THE EXPLOSIVE SOUND OF... THE SOUND EXPLOSION (LP/LOST IN TYME)

After 24 years since their first classic album, this legendary Greek garage band entered the studio again to record this album! 'The Explosive Sounds Of... The Sound Explosion' contains 14 songs and time seems to have stopped. Taking their inspiration from all the classic and the most obscure American garage bands of the '60s, they have created a statement of how a true garage band should sound! A record that's gonna melt on the turntable of each fan. They're back to turn on the fuzz!

VARIOUS - THE GLORY BOY MOD RADIO SHOW CASE, VOL. 3 (CD/DETOUR)

This CD offers a tasteful selection of recordings by the current generation of mod stalwarts, hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Sweden and the USA. featured bands include The Purple Hearts, The Threads, The Grey Skies, Chordie, The Shadowland, The Five Faces, The Moot, Drums & Wires UK, Fanscene, Idel Talk, Proper, The Laissez Fairs, Chris Casey Combo 66, Thee Strawberry Mind, The Gallerys and many others.

SHIFTERS - THE SHIFTERS (LP/FUTURE FOLKLORE)

Debut album by this band from Melbourne, Australia, who play some kind of drunken pop and broken punk somewhere between The Fall and The Country Teasers. Nine killer tracks mixed by Mickey Young. Limited to 500 copies, including insert.

POP/ROCK/WAVE/NOISE

FOOL IN THE BOX - FOOL IN THE BOX (+CD) (LP/B-OTHERSIDE)

Third album by Fool In The Box, an alternative rock trio based in Athens, Greece. A unique mix of grunge, progressive rock and jazz.

INDUSTRIAL/EXPERIMENTAL/NOISE/NEOFOLK/GOTHIC

HENNIES, SARAH - EMBEDDED ENVIRONMENTS (LP/BLUME)

Through a remarkable and singular body of work, over the course of the last decade, like storm beginning as whisper on the horizon, the composer and percussionist Sarah Hennies has slowly emerged as one of the definitive voices of her generation. Hennies has been darting around the edges of modern composition for years, but that world has never been an entirely comfortable fit, nor is it the best framework and context within which to approach her work. She is better understood in the proximity of figures like Jim O'Rourke, a creator of a countercultural music, which incorporates everything, while owing loyalty to none. Though not for aesthetics, Hennies could equally be framed with composers like Steve Reich, Arthur Russell, Julius Eastman, and Mary Jane Leach, all of whom struggled to create more inclusive musical hybrids, attacking the institutions as they stood. As these figures once were, Hennies' position within the contemporary landscape is challenging, bristles, and requires work to understand. Her music isn't always what it seems. What is unquestionable, is that it is entirely of this moment, and not a product of appropriation or pastiche. What she has to say, has never been said.

MAGGI, PHIL - ANIMALWRATH (CD/SUB ROSA)

Phil Maggi is a composer, a vocalist and a film maker from Belgium. Known as the lead singer of heavy-rock combo Ultraphallus, Phil Maggi develops an extensive body of work as a solo musician for several years. The album 'Animalwrath' is a combination of his different forms of music, from ambient-drone, electro-acoustic, sampling and field recordings to free-jazz. Phil Maggi has invited a few generous collaborators (Oren Bloedow, Maja Jantar, Radwan Ghazi Moumneh, Tom Malmendier, Gabriel Séverin and Ludovic Medery) on these eight tracks inspired by Henry Corbin's writings, Nico, Scott Walker and traditional music.

IDEHALL, MICHAEL - PROPHECIES OF THE STORM (CD/ANT-ZEN)

'Prophecies Of The Storm' features nine deep scorings of Idehall's sinister poetical output - a crude, rough force carrying intense tempers of menace, aggression and sadness. Heavy electronics pushed with striking tautologic sequences build a solid foundation for apocalyptic tunes with a subliminal song structure, resulting in the one-of-a-kind combination of death industrial and dark, structured ambiance entitled 'seancetronica'. Truly a masterpiece, this album is a conveyance to starkly different, maybe even unique states of mind - hypnotic, forceful and savage.

MÜNCH, PHILIPP - GREYSCALE (CD/ANT-ZEN)

Ars Moriendi's unique mixture of power noise rhythms, dark ambient spheres and often aggressively performed German vocals lay the foundation for the updated conceptual turn on 'Greyscale' as well as the fortified use of acoustic instrumentation besides omnipresent electronics. A project that also leaves one's mark here is Philipp's alter ego Rasputeen which combines minimal electro with headstrong and often time-critical lyrics. Assimilating these influences and giving them a contemporary update, 'Greyscale' displays the topical manifestation of Philipp Münch as an artist and as a musician - both as he is now and as he was, simultaneously.

NATURA EST - NATURA EST (CD/ANT-ZEN)

Debut album by Natura Est (Tony Young of Autoclav1.1 and Andreas Davids of Xotox). Apparitions of sound float over heavy-set foundations of deep, resonating and cavernous bass-driven drones. Arcane lore clashes and ultimately melds with the modern day religion of factory and machine. purity battles with pollutant in a dramatic display of engrossing and enveloping display of pure, calmative dark ambient that should appeal to avid followers of the genre and newcomers alike.

SONOLOGYST - SILENCERS (CD/COLD SPRING)

Eerie drones, oscillations from the ether, distorted dark matter, signals from other dimensions... The music of Sonologyst fluctuates between scientific sonic documentaries and psychedelic abstraction, illuminated by early experimentation of the '50s and '60s, as well as future possibilities of the electronic and electro-acoustic.

WERRA - VENTE VENT (CD/LICHTERKLANG)

Six years after the release of the debut 'MMI-MMV' :Werra: return with 'Vente Vent', thirteen tacks which are combined by the recurring motive of the change bringing wind. Catchy melodies, driving tunes und dreamy songs alternate while poems and own lyrics follow the tradition of their previous work. Musically the trio sets a new course with the addition of an accordion that brings a new dimension and depth to the songs without losing :Werra:'s very own value of recognition.

METAL/STONER/HARDROCK

DUEL - (YELLOW) LIVE AT THE ELECTRIC CHURCH (LP/HEAVY PSYCH SOU)

'Live At The Electric Church' takes you on a tripped out journey to an old abandoned Spanish church turned DIY rock venue in East Austin, Texas USA. Brought to life by Crow studio's mobile recording truck straight out of 1970s. Hear these tunes like they were meant to be heard: LIVE and RAW!! Comes on yellow vinyl in brown/gold cover.

MICK'S JAGUAR - FAME AND FORTUNE (BLACK) (LP/RIDING EASY)

This group formed as a drunken Rolling Stones cover band, and after a few years of mainlining Stones songs and playing sporadic shows marred by violence and sprayed by beer, they started writing originals that attracted the attention of RidingEasy Records. And their album 'Fame And Fortune' sounds absolutely nothing like the Stones. The three guitarists -yes three guitars- open the album with a riff of buzzsaw intensity that would make a Ramone proud. But then like Jim Morrison sashaying into a wine shop, it drunkenly careens into a big sounding rock and roll album somewhere in between Van Halen and Tres Hombres. Guitar solos abound, Thin Lizzy harmonies soar, the bass and drums make a groove that will shake the asses on the dance floor and put a rumble in your loins. Songs about life, death, cars, blood, murder, sex, drugs and booze are the world of Mick's Jaguar. Don't forget - this is what rock and roll is all about. Listen close and you'll hear hat tips to your bands, Mick's Jag knows their history and likes to rip it apart.

JAZZ/AVANTGARDE

LACY, STEVE/YUJI TAKAHASHI/TAKEHISA KOSUGI - DISTANT VOICES (LP/AGUIRRE)

High quality reissue of Steve Lacy's rare Japanese collaboration album 'Distant Voices'. 180 gram vinyl and 4 page insert with liner notes by Julian Cowley. On 24th June 1975 Takahashi sat at a grand piano, with celeste and vibraphone alongside him and small bells attached to his hands. Kosugi was equipped with violin, flute, mouth organ, an electronic modulator, porcelain bowls and at times he used his voice. Lacy played soprano saxophone, of course. Now and then he pressed the mouth of the instrument against the skin of a kettle drum. He occasionally fiddled with a transistor radio, and also found uses for a stepladder, a toothbrush and a spinning wheel. This was in no sense a routine musical session. Distant Voices preserves a unique occasion when three singular musicians joined together to embrace the unknown.

SOUL/FUNK/LATIN/R&B/GOSPEL

VARIOUS - ILATIN COMPILATION (CD/ABANICO)

'iLatin Compilation' is an absolute novelty in the Latin American field as the first release that contains the best songs in the genre, divided equally between salsa and bachata with cha cha cha to divide those genres. ELECTRONIC MUSIC/AMBIENT/D’N’B/TRIPHOP

DROBS - XIBALBA (LP/TO DISKADIKO)

It all began with a cheap sampler, an early 2000s model. The Drobs chose sounds from music libraries and edited them: Italian and French music of the 1960s, early 1970s, traditional rhythms from Nigeria and Ethiopia, Brazilian bossa-nova... sharpened their sounds and on the way began to add keys. This second album features a number of artists coming from different gernres such as Freddie F., members from The Last Drive, J-kadillac, Stefanatty (One Drop Forward), Kosmik Blaster and others. The result is 13 tracks of unique low budget high fidelity music. Limited edition of 200 copies.

RITUAL VEIL - WOLF IN THE NIGHT (CD/OTHER VOICES)

The Portland based trio of A. Alexander Wolfe (vocals), Wolfgang Williams (guitar) and Tim Iserman (synth/programming) cater to all your death disco needs, as Ritual Veil are well versed in the pleasures of synth and sin. There's some serious nods to Depeche Mode embedded in their DNA, especially in the blackened sex appeal of Wolfe's rich Gahan-sian vocal styling, all while the arrangement bristles with taut energy.
