PSYCHEDELIC/PROGRESSIVE/FOLK

MANCO, BARIS - DAGLAR DAGLAR (7"/TÜRKÜOLA)

Offering top shelf Anatolian psychedelic blues, this ground breaking 1970 single by the Turkish rock legend returns to vinyl.

ARTEAGA/ATOMIC MOLD - SPLIT LP (LP/ELECTRIC VALLEY)

Heavy psych rockers Arteaga from Chile meet up with Italian stoner-doomsters Atomic Mold for a 40-minute delivery of hypnotic doom-psych! The LP is pressed onto 180 gram colour in colour transparent yellow and green vinyl.

GRIT - GRIT (LP/SOMMOR)

Previously only existing in an edition of two acetete LP's (maximum rarity scale in the Pokora collectors' books), an excellent psychedelic hardrock album by a London-based group (featuring ex-members of Merlyn) gets released on vinyl! This edition comes with two lo-fi rehearsal bonus track and a download for the complete album plus further bonus material. (Covers of songs by Chicken Shack and Burnin' Red Ivanhoe'!)

JOSEFUS - NOT DEAD YET (LP/SHROOMANGEL)

'UNRELEASED 1978 STUDIO SESSIONS & LIVE' - Here's a limited second edition (300 LP's on BLACK VINYL) of this smoking collection of rare material from the Houston-based psychedelic blues rock outfit! This release proves that the band was still as savage and raw in 1978 as back in 1969.

LAMMPING - BAD BOYS OF COMEDY (LP/NASONI)

Here presented on 180-GRAM BLUE VINYL (in an edition of 300 copies including a download), 'Bad Boys Of Comedy' is the debut-album by Lammping, a psych-rock outfit from Toronto, formed by multi-instrumentalist Mikhail Galkin and drummer Jay Anderson. The LP incorporates a wide range of influences including Tropicalia, Turkish psych, classic NY boom-bap drum patterns and CSN&Y-style vocal harmonies. While rooted in riffs and heavy drumming, this record showcases a fresh, eclectic approach to modern psychedelia, eschewing the usual musical categorizations.

OCEAN (USA) - OCEAN (LP/LOLLIPOP SHOP)

Recorded in 1969 by an NYC-based hippie group, comprising ex-members of The Family Of Apostolic, a long lost psychedelic folk-rock gem sees its first ever vinyl release! Featuring gorgeous male and famale vocals and virtuoso playing, the songs (originals mostly!) reveal influences from the British late '60s folk boom, Middle-Eastern music and traditional US genres s.a. bluegrass. The LP is pressed on TRANSPARENT OCEAN BLUE VINYL and includes and insert with liner notes and archival photos. Limited to 300 copies.

PROUD, PIP - DE DA DE DUM (LP/HALF A COW)

In 1967 Pip Proud recorded an album called 'De Da De Dum'. There were less than 100 copies pressed. As low as 50 is the likely number. Pip gained the attention of Polydor Records and most of the tracks were re-recorded and became the 'Adreneline & Richard' album the following year. The recordings on 'De Da De Dum' are unique to this album. Fans of outsider avant-garde music have long been hip to the songs of Pip.

TEMPEST - LIVING IN FEAR (LP/LONGHAIR)

This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Originally released in 1974 on Bronze, Island this is the second (and last) official album by the UK heavy progrock group Tempest, formed by famous drummer Jon Hiseman following the breakdown of the original Colosseum lineup. The second incarnation includes, still as before, Colosseum bassist Mark Clarke, but (after former guitarist Allan Holdsworth left) new on guitar, keyboards and vocals (former vocalist Paul Williams had to leave the group due to alcohol problems), Ollie Halsall of Patto fame! Halsall's playing is simply glorious throughout, blending jazz-rock and accurate heavy rock. He also plays various keyboard on the album, adding to the progressive textures of the music. Moreover, Halsall proves to be a very exciting and gifted vocalist! Mark Clark (Colosseum, Uriah Heep) still is a great groovy and melodic bass-player. The songs have rock 'n roll, heavy rock, art-rock and jazz-rock influences. The band has an intense feel and well performed vocals that give the music an extra push. Within the song Tempest manages to integrated progressive elements (rhythms, chords-changes, original harmonies) without loosing that fine rockin' atmosphere. During some extended solo-sections the band freely shoes how brilliant it can play, with the guitars of Halsall being especially exciting, the tracks are very catchy and uplifting. Like most early heavy progressive rock groups Tempest must have been unable to find its audiance, being to progressive for rockers and to straightforward for symphonic prog listeners. If you like heavy prog like May Blitz and Captain Beyond this will surely please your ears. Fans of Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy (because of the melodic bass) and Colosseum might also want to give this album a try. The original recordings were carefully and proper remastered. The album comes as a reproduction of the original gimmick cover with bandstory and photos summed up in a 4-sided cover sized insert sheet. Like Tempest's first album this is a must to all hard/heavy progrock fans!

TEMPEST - TEMPEST (LP/LONGHAIR)

This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management, UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Originally released in 1973 on Bronze, Island this is the first album by the UK heavy progrock group Tempest, formed by famous drummer Jon Hiseman following the breakdown of the original Colosseum lineup. It includes Colosseum bassist Mark Clarke, guitar and violin are handled by the brilliant Allan Holdsworth and vocals by one of the strongest UK vocalists Paul Williams (ex-Juicy Lucy). The music is a mixture of really virtuoso and energetic hard rock/heavy rock performances with slightly jazzrock (Colosseum) influences. Absolutely at the peak of hard-rock, with blinding musical prowess of a certain kind, this is a grower... the riffs, composition, rhythms, and melodies are pretty fantastic, better than 90 percent of the highly regarded output by Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, or Black Sabbath, as one critic wrote. Listen to this great album, sadly often quite forgotten. The original recordings were carefully and proper remastered. The album comes as a reproduction of the original gimmick cover with bandstory, photos and lyrics summed up in a 4-sided cover sized insert sheet. A must to all hard/heavy progrock fans!

UNITED STATES OF EXISTENCE - PSYCHEDELIC YESTERDAYS OF TOMORROW (LP/GUERSSEN)

Presented on a stunning vinyl compilation are 16 tracks by the '80s psych revivalists from Baltimore, Maryland, who were influenced by a.o. The Blues Magoos, The Association, The Electric Prunes, Strawberry Alarm Clock and The Seeds. This collection features all the tracks from the band's highly regarded 1986 'Introducing' album (issued on Bam Caruso) and adds some non-LP single and demo cuts. Members of The Association(!) sing backings on the included A-side 'Anything Goes!'.

WHITE MANNA - ARC (LP/CARDINAL FUZZ)

This nine song journey sees the band exploring new directions that are more meditative in nature, a welcome development in light of the current state of world affairs. The song 'Mythic Salon' certainly demonstrates such intent, as well as growth. 'ARC', the band's first release since 2019's 'Ape On Sunday', was recorded at guitarist Anthony Taibi's 3D Light Studios in Humboldt County, California. The songwriting this time around took on more of an inward process, both musically and thematically. This shift allowed for more spontaneity and improvisation than their previous efforts. This was especially true when it came to translating musical passages that had already become part of the band's live repertoire. 'ARC' is not a concept album per se, but its focus on such an omnipresent icon certainly leaves the listener a variety of avenues for interpretation, making this the most daring and unique album in the White Manna discography.

ZONE SIX - ANY NOISE IS INTENDED (2LP) (LP/ACID TEST)

Reissue of Zone Six's second studio album, originally released on CD only in 2003 on Sunhair Records, Germany. Recorded at Rusty-Productions in Gotthun, October 2000. First time on vinyl! Limited to 300 copies on black vinyl. A fantastic 55 minute all instrumental PSYCHEDELIC SOUND TRIP, strongly influenced by the German space/kraut scene of the late '60s/early '70s. Long psychedelic guitar journeys accompagnied by spacey electronics. A journey into the PSYCHEDELIC vasts unknown. A great PSYCHEDELIC galaxy with mind-lifting GUITAR-explorations!

All kinds of influences and genres are blended around the futuristic vision of '80s coastal cumbia. All these elements are filtered and passed through the traditional train of thought of Meridian Brothers.

SOUNDTRACKS/LOUNGE/CULT ETC

VARIOUS - CHA-CHA AU HAREM: ORIENTICA FRANCE 1960-1964 (LP/BORN BAD)

It was France which welcomed Omar Sharif's first feature films outside of Egypt ('Goha', 'La Chatelaine Du Liban') in the 1960s, which inspired numerous artists to start composing and producing a delirious amount of music combining Latin and Middle Eastern influences. This style was catchy and tastefully arranged, and the genre's best tunes contain a delightfully old-fashioned charm. TRACKS: 01. Leo Clarens Et Ses Rythmes Orientaux - Cha Cha Cha Au Harem 02. Zina Nahid - Danse Du Sud 03. Fred Adison Et Son Orchestre - Inch' Allah 04. Benny Benett - Couscous 05. Kemal Rachid Et Ses Ottomans - Loukoum 06. Benny Benett - Ismaila 07. KOSTIS, A. - THE JAIL'S A FINE SCHOOL (LP/MISSISSIPPI)

Repress! The first ever vinyl collection of the legendary Kostis, the most enigmatic of all Greek rebetika artists of the early 1930s. Truly unique guitar duets and black-humor prose chronicling the hash dens, prison culture and pickpockets of old Athens. Virtuosic fingerpicking of Near-Eastern modes at the dawn of rebetika, when the bouzouki was yet to become supreme. Recorded under a pseudonym for export to the Greeks living in America, it stands as an enduring mystery and the high standard for a once subversive art form. This release includes Greek and English lyrics, extensive liner notes by Tony Klein and many previously unpublished photographs.
