Mr Bongo is delighted to re-issue their first ever release, the self-titled cult album from Os Ipanemas on CD and LP. This legendary album has been remastered to a premium quality.
This record is the result of a 1964 jam session organised by Astor Silva and Wilson Das Neves and was originally released in 1975 on the Brazilian label Discos CBS. Wilson das Neves is a key figure in the history of Brazilian music, having played
drums with pratically every great musician of his generation. The idea behind the record was to break the traditional Bossa trio mould and create instead a harderedged Jazz and Bossa sound that allowed for more soloing and improvisation. The
result is a stone-cold classic album that is essential for all Brazilian music fans (we promise). The album includes classics such as Kenya, Nana, Consolacao and Berimbau. The LP features fully reproduced original art, featuring beautiful drawings by Sergio Malta. Produced on heavyweight, old-style, packaging, the same as the original LP. Original label art.
