Two tracks from the explosive Ethiopian scene as it existed between the late '60s and mid '70s. Side one features the legendary Alémayèhu Eshèté (a.k.a. the Ethiopian James Brown, and the Abyssinian Elvis) on a jazzy cut, backed by a.o. an upbeat piano, guitar and tough but subtle drums. It was originally released on 7-inch by Amha Records in 1974. On the flip Girma Bèyènè's 'Ene Negn Bay Manesh' is a beautifully deep groover, featuring his vocal (unusual, since he mostly recorded instrumentals), subtle guitar, organ and horns. This one was originally released, once again, on the Ethiopian label Amha in 1969.
