A reissue on 180-gram vinyl of the superb album by Los Angeles-based band The Village Callers, recorded live in 1968 and back then released on Eddie Davis' Rampart Records. The Village Callers' sound and style includes jazz, soul, R&B and lots of Latin percussion. The band's only LP consisted mainly of groove-filled covers such as 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine', 'I Don't Need No Doctor', Joao Donato's 'The Frog' and a medley of Aretha Franklin hits. 'Hector', one of the standout cuts on the LP and its only original song, has been sampled by a.o. Beastie Boys, Cypress Hill and De La Soul.
