Reissued here is a Japanese jazz/breakbeat, folkloric mega-rarity from 1970, revered by the likes of DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, Egon and co. This work uniquely combines traditional Japanese instrumentation with Western jazz influences. Minoru Muraoka and his shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute) are joined by musicians accompanying him on the koto (strings) and tsutsumi (drum) amongst others, to create their Shakuhachi jazz sound. The album couples cover versions of very well-known jazz pop classics (ranging from Dave Brubeck's 'Take Five' to songs best known from The Animals, Simon & Garfunkel and Dionne Warwick) with two original songs. This reissue comes with reproduced cover art.

Also available: BAMBOO (CD).
