'Where Comes The Dark?' is the debut full length from shadowy, underground producer The Slow Engineer. An album of sculpted synthsonics and Eldritch electronics originally released on a limited run, blink and you'll miss it cassette which sold out in 24 hrs. Heavy on basslines, with driving rhythms and tweaked synthesisers, it's a record which openly acknowledges it's nod to horror scores and the work of the Radiophonic Workshop whilst pulling off something uniquely and freshly new, with an assembled array of wayward equipment stored at his Analogue Hades base. British horror actor Laurence R. Harvey adds suitably menacing narration in places, and across 10 fabulous tracks this is a richly, deliciously diverse electronic record which comes hugely recommended to fans of John Carpenter, not to mention label mates The Heartwood Institute and Dream Division. A one time pressing of 300, destined to sell out pretty swiftly.

PYE CORNER AUDIO & FATEN KANAAN - THE DARKEST WAVE/MIRROR LAKE

Repress! The A-side 'The Darkest Wave' features pulsing icy synth drones over which the cool NY narrative owes nods to some '70s Carpenter-eque VHS chillwave soundtrack (not unlike some of Umberto's work of the last decade or so). It's a beautifully evolving, slow burner ... read more »

MARS, VIC - THE CONSUMER PROGRAMME

MARS, VIC - THE CONSUMER PROGRAMME

'Consumer Programme' is a magnificent full-length, building handsomely on its esteemed predecessor's huge acclaim. In other words: we may expect more utterly wonderful, occasionally playful analogue synth soundtracks, soundbites and tips of the hat, especially to the ... read more »

ALPAR - WAKAYAMA/MEJIRO

Alpár aka Hungarian Bálint Zalkai, is the co-founder of Farbwechsel, the Budapest based record label, and his own recordings of electronic compositions (often built upon random looping sequencers in a minimalist style) are key to the label's release output ... read more »

HOME CURRENT - THAT SUMMER/GELB

HOME CURRENT - THAT SUMMER/GELB

'That Summer' is a beautifully punchy, percussive slice of electronica. This real slow burner, which is best whacked out with the volume hiked up, complements the more stripped down, yet equally melodic flip 'Gelb', that sort of reminds of Yellow Magic Orchestra. Limited to ... read more »

DETOX TWINS - IN THE HOSPITAL GARDEN/TRANSFORMATION

DETOX TWINS - IN THE HOSPITAL GARDEN/TRANSFORMATION

A revisit to the always enjoyable dark electro world of Berlin's mighty Detox Twins. Two ace tunes which precede the 2018 full length. Killer hooks from synth maestro Mark Vorderhaus, aligned with glorious effect to Devi's icy Nico-esque vocals. Another winner for both ... read more »

KNOX, GABE - ABC (BLACK)

PY often likes to quote the artist directly in it's press releases, and this one is no exception. Gabe's own words, more than adequately explaining the path leading to this killer set for 2019; "It feels a little ridiculous to pretend that the person introducing you to ... read more »
