Beauty Reaps The Blood Of Solitude (black)
Nature And Organisation is the creative musical works of iconic English artist, musician and composer Michael Cashmore. The music is a mix of acoustic, classical and folk structures infused with abrasive electronic instrumentation. Nature And Organisation's 1994 album 'Beauty Reaps The Blood Of Solitude' has been stated as the greatest neofolk album ever by many reviewers over the years. Having only one official vinyl release and a couple of unofficial ones since its original release date, Svart Records now have the honor of bringing 'Beauty Reaps The Blood Of Solitude' back on the market. Cashmore was a member of Current 93 from the late 1980s until around 2006, composing the majority of the music for the group during that period, and has also collaborated with many artists, including David Tibet, Douglas Pearce, Steven Stapleton, ANOHNI, Marc Almond and Rose McDowall. With Nature And Organisation he utilised a mix of acoustic instruments, surreal sound collages, cut-up super 8mm film and tape loops to create a sound that would later be regarded as influential in the genre of post-industrial music. The cult neofolk-classical opus 'Beauty Reaps The Blood Of Solitude' returns - painstakingly remastered and reissued for the ultimate listening experience. A haunting blend of baroque beauty and apocalyptic folk, featuring collaborations with members of Current 93 and Death In June. Includes all-new artwork by Cashmore himself.

The Least Of Our Concerns
Allan Crockford and Ian Button probably first nodded a cursory "Alright?" to each other in 1986 when their respective bands - The Prisoners and Thrashing Doves - were on the same bill supporting a late-era Ramones at Hammersmith Palais. Their histories from that point are fairly well known. Crockford moved on after The Prisoners into the James Taylor Quartet, The Prime Movers, The Solar Flares and beyond, while Button followed up Thrashing Doves with 10+ years as guitarist for Death In Vegas before moving more into production, drumming (currently for Heavenly, Swansea Sound, Louis Philippe), and his own projects. The two current bands they lead - The Galileo 7 and Papernut Cambridge - have been operating out of Kent for the last decade or more - paths have crossed...gigs have been done together... records have been exchanged. In summer 2023 they began working on some songs together, swapping backing tracks, song skeletons, lyrics and ideas, and very quickly had enough raw material for an album, and a project name - The Penrose Web. As you'd expect, they both bring items from their own musical wardrobes to this: their own takes on sunshine pop, psych, garage and indie combine: Crockford's Medway credentials and Button's SE London via Kent Coast retro pop chops merge geo-musically somewhere along the M20. Their first EP 'It's... The Penrose Web' was released in January 2025 (the first 7" to be pressed on the new non-plastic compound Evovinyl) and earned the band comparisons with the likes of The Seeds, Martin Newell, The Who and The Scars. Louder Than War called it "A genuine cult classic." The Penrose Web's debut album 'The Least Of Our Concerns' is released on Spinout Nuggets, and lays out their stall wider - think Paisley Underground meets Stiff Records, Medway meets glam, dark garage meets acid folk. There's macabre trash rock ('Hexapod Scene') baroque soul drama ('In Her Darkened Room'), suburban ennui ('Mr Chance'), as well as more prosaic introspection and pop-psych optimism tinged with regrets ('Never Too Soon,' 'Tuesday The 6th Of November'). While the album was made essentially by Button and Crockford as a duo playing everything between them, for their live debut in May they have expanded to a full live band including Viv Bonsels (The Galileo 7), Robert Rotifer (Papernut Cambridge, Louis Philippe) and Charlie Hannah (Mozart Estate). Limited to 300 copies on vinyl.

For the last twenty years Preston Pfanz & The Seaton Sands have been living an almost secret existence playing their very British take on the guitar instro oeuvre. Allegedly containing sometime members of such combos as The Thanes, Les BOF!, The New Piccadillys, Lord Rochester, The Paper Sparrows and The Baron Nonesutch Band, these guys have been anonymously sneaking about twanging away around the UK and Europe playing headline gigs and in support to the likes of Billy Childish, The 5.6.7.8s, The Unclaimed and extensively touring with The Masonics. Although their first 45 'Knockhill Chicane,' their EP 'Big Beat Guitar Party' and two BBC sessions on the Vic Galloway show were all met with great acclaim - all over 10 years ago - it has taken until now for 'The Sands' (as their fans prefer to call them) to release their first long playing platter 'Return To Burnt Island.' Containing mainly original material, the album also contains some favourites from their live set. These include Bert Weedon's 'Ginchy,' The Krew Kats' 'Peak Hour' and a demented take on the traditional hymn 'Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jericho.' The whole package is a perfect encapsulation both sonically and visually of that early stage of British R'n'R, with a beautiful abstract sleeve designed by Bruce Brand of the Arthole organisation. Legendary Finnish punk band Lama's early singles reissued on a 7" box set for the first time. Lama is one of the most legendary Finnish punk bands, established in Helsinki back in 1977. They released four 7" singles during the '80s which were originally compiled on CD and later on a 12" vinyl titled '...Ja Mikään Ei Muuttunut' by Svart Records. These four singles will now get the reissue treatment on 7" records, packed in a box set. '...Ja Mikään Ei Muuttunut' contains 'Totuus Löytyy Kaurapuurosta' (1980), 'Nimetön' (1981), 'Väliaikainen' (1981), and 'Ajatuksen Loppu' (1983), all originally released by one of the greatest Finnish labels Johanna.

Aelita (black)
At the beginning of their career, Cleaning Women were a live band that was not intended to record at all and initially performed for a maximum of 15 minutes. However, Kari Heikonen's BV2 Produktions persuaded the band to record their first album. By the second album the trio had already played a plethora of gigs with many of them abroad, especially in Russia. The band had also, semi-coincidentally, become involved in silent films, so the theme for the second album was one of the first ever feature-length science fiction films, the 1924 Soviet silent film 'Aelita' directed by Yakov Protazanov, to which Cleaning Women had performed a live score the previous year. The material on the second album consists mainly of themes from the film, but some of the songs were rearranged for the album. The album also contains a few pieces not entirely related to the film and includes songs that are not part of the live score but are linked to the events of the film. Overall, the band describes the album as a kind of musical commentary of 'Aelita's live score and the band's mental landscape at the time. The album features a guest appearance by Yevgeny Fedorov of the St. Petersburg band Tequilajazzz, who rewrote the lyrics for and sang on the track 'Teknigrad.' Fedorov, the front man of the band, which is very well known in Russia, is currently living in exile after publicly opposing the war launched by Russia in Ukraine. The album was recorded in a basement studio on Albertinkatu in Helsinki by Sakke Pietarila and mixed by Jyri Riikonen, who has recalled the mixing process being challenging. The sounds of the rather primitive instruments, when recorded, were not quite what the band thought they would sound like. The band also experienced challenges in realising their vision during the recordings, and now, twenty years later, they admit that the album features not only homemade instruments but also a few factory-made percussion instruments. This is something the band still deeply regrets. Originally released in 2004.

When Wah Wah did the first ever vinyl reissue of this 1972 masterpiece back in 2012 it sold out so fast and so many lost the chance to grab a copy has translated into continuous messages asking them to do a repressing of this marvel - which they did and, again, it sold like hot bread. So here is a new edition of this UK jazz masterpiece, this time with a twist: Silk-screened cover art: they respect the original design, but have upgraded the printing from regular offset to silk screen to give it an artistic touch! In adition to the limited black vinyl edition, there's also an ultra limited clear vinyl version. One of the big names in UK jazz, Neil Ardley was offered the leadership of the seminal New Jazz Orchestra in 1964. Under his direction the Orchestra moved though different styles and changes of personnel, bringing in musicians such as Mike Gibbs (trombone), Harry Beckett and Henry Lowther (trumpets) or even Jack Bruce (bass), some of them also contributed with the writing of some original compositions, making the NJO the root from which the UK's '70s jazz scene was to blossom. By 1972 the NJO was already defunct, but his legacy remained in the works of its members. Ardley's 'A Symphony Of Amaranths' is a perfect example of what was boiling in the UK jazz scene. It was Ardley's tribute to his idols Duke Ellington and Gil Evans, and featured the skills of some great musicians of the scene including Don Rendell, Stan Tracey, Henry Lowther, Harry Beckett, Jeff Clyne and Jon Hiseman. Side B is inspired by the words of Edward Lear, W.B. Yeats, James Joyce and Lewis Carroll that are musicated by Ardley and feature, among other highlights, Ivor Cutler's narration of 'The Dong With A Luminous Nose' and Norma Winstone's vocals on 'Will You Walk A Little Faster.' When they performed a handful of concerts as a duo in the summer of 1998, Kristen Noguès and John Surman had already worked a lot on the interweaving of genres: Noguès had confronted traditional Breton music with contemporary music and Surman had changed his jazz into atmospheric numbers that would be amongst the finest recording on the ECM label. As a duo, the harpist and the saxophonist would go on to invent something different: free folk, traditional ambient, modal 'fest-noz'... it is difficult to label, because the duo Noguès/Surman is one of a kind. 'Diriaou' means 'Thursday' in Breton. It is also the title of the first piece that Kristen Noguès and John Surman played together in 1991. Noguès learned the Breton language as a child, at the same time as the Celtic harp, taking lessons with Denise Mégevand, who would go on to teach others, notably Alan Stivell. At the beginning of the 1970s, she discovered the Breton song tradition (soniou and gwerziou) and became involved in Névénoé, a cooperative of traditional expression founded by Gérard Delahaye and Patrick Ewen. She recorded a single with the two musicians in 1974, then her first album, two years later. Everyone who has listened to Kristen Noguès debut 'Marc'h Gouez,' is now aware of her mysterious plucked strings. Her art, leaving Brittany, would go on to take in all landscapes and folklores, in the same as that of John Surman, conceived a little further north including vernacular jazz, international fusion with Chris McGregor or Miroslav Vitous, and exploring more personal territory. Remember the Cornish landscapes in one of the best albums on the ECM label: 'Road To Saint Ives.' Kristen Noguès and John Surman thus shared an 'extra-Celtic' inspiration infused with free improvisation. On this recording, made in 1998 by Tanguy Le Doré at the Dre Ar Wenojenn festival, the duo uses original compositions which refer back to traditional songs ('Maro Pontkalek,' 'Le Scorff'). The musicians then create fantastic impressions: 'Baz Valan,' on which Noguès and Surman have a heavenly exchange; 'Kernow,' on which the shared theme slowing disappears into the mist; 'Maro Pontkalek' and 'Diriaou' which move from the storm to the calm. Elsewhere, there is singing, first with Surman ('Kleier') and then moving on to Noguès ('Kerzhadenn' and her signature song 'Berceuse'). On a canvas of traditional music, the two musicians weave countless memorable landscapes.

Songs Of Electronic Despair (black)
If this LP exists it is thanks to the vision, energies, work and perseverance of Thomas M. Lopez, aka Meatball Fulton. He is the president and one of the founding members of the ZBS Foundation (ZBS stands for Zero Bullshit), where the audio dramas written by Lopez himself were born. Dramatic programs with stories that blended noir, comedy and science-fiction genres such as 'Ruby The Galactic Gumshoe' or 'Jack Flanders' were produced to critic and public acclaim. It was in 'Ruby The Galactic Gumshoe' that the Android Sisters, who would later have their own spin-off series, first appeared. The characters represent two robotic siblings that Tom Lopez created under big influence from 'Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?,' the Philip K. Dick novel that was taken to cinema by Ridley Scott in 'Blade Runner.' The Androids were performed by actresses Ruth Maleczech and Valeria Wasilewski. The big success of these "cosmic and comic" sci-fi series, as they are described in the ZBS Foundations website, led to the releasing of cassette tapes, CDs, USBs and podcasting of the stories. Along with these, several music albums were also released in different formats. One of them is 'Songs Of Electric Despair,' the first of two released by the Android Sisters. The songs contained are written by Tom Lopez and his long time collaborator experimental musician Tim Clark. The Android Sisters' 'Songs Of Electronic Despair' LP was originally released as a ZBS Foundation cassette and also as a vinyl LP on Vanguard in 1984. It featured 11 compositions (two bonus tracks not on the original LP have been added to the Wah Wah reissue) on which the experimental synthesizer music of Tim Clark finds a perfect counterpoint in the deliciously surrealistic, cosmic social satire of Tom Lopez's texts, magically performed by the robotic, yet sensual voices of the Android Sisters as performed by Maleczech and Wasilewski. Clark composed and performed the backing tracks on the Synclavier II synthesizer. The Wah Wah reissue comes with two bonus tracks not on the original 1984 LP, respects the beautiful original album artwork and enhances it with a 4 pages full colour insert with notes and lyrics of the songs. The Last Question (black)
Ultra rare outer space private press! 'The Last Question' is the first album by electronics master Tim Clark. It collects his early works, when he was the Music Director of the Strasenburgh Planetarium in Rochester, N.Y. These tunes were the soundtrack to the planetarium's adaptation of Isaac Asimov's 'The Last Question' short stoy. The idea was conceived by Von Del Chamberlain, director of the Abrams Planetarium, and was taken to fruition in a joint venture bewtween the Abrams and Strasenburgh Planetariums, were the shows were premiered in 1972. Clark composed and produced the works in the Strasenburgh Planetarium's own sound studio, equipped with three Ampex 440 recorders, a 4-channel mixing board with 18 inputs and a Moog synthesizer. The album was released as a private pressing in 1973 and it has since become an elusive collector's piece among electronic music afficionados. I Hear A New World (black)
The first and most independent of all independent producers, Joe Meek needs little introduction. He was the first to chart in both the UK and the USA with an independently produced song -which was actually recorded in his home's kitchen- when The Tornados' 'Telstar' took the world in 1962. Meek was, of course, one of the most in vogue producers of the first half of the 1960s, providing the soundtrack to the evolution of UK rock'n'roll to Swinging London, scoring hits with actors like John Leyton ('Johnny Remember Me'), showmen like Screaming Lord Sutch and bands like The Outlaws and The Tornados. He also produced a wide stream of R&B and freakbeat 45s that are nowadays hardly sought after by the collectors with the biggest bank accounts. Joe Meek experimented with all kinds of recording techniques in his home studio, his tricks and gimmicks won his productions chart placement and critical and public acclaim, but none of his projects was so advanced and way out as the avantgarde experimentation showed in his 'I Hear A New World' electronic symphony from 1960. Aided by The Blue Men formed by Rod Freeman (group leader, guitar, vocals), Ken Harvey (tenor sax, vocals), Roger Fiola (Hawaiian guitar), Chris White (guitar), Doug Collins (bass), Dave Golding (drums) -also known as Rodd-Ken and The Cavaliers- who provided a tight base to his electronically produced sounds, Meek came up with what he envisioned as the soundtrack of the future, the sounds he envisioned were to be heard in outer space. It was too way out for its time, certainly. To the point that of all the opus, only four tracks saw the light of day on a 7" EP released on Triumph, Meek's very own label. It wouldn't be until 1991 that the whole recordings from the 'I Hear A New World' sessions would see the light of day on a CD issued by the RPM label. Wah Wah offers a reissue of this now classic early electronics masterpiece, housed in a beautiful front-laminated back-flapped sleeve. Get yours before they fly!
